About the event
Risky play is becoming an increasingly recognised important form of play in early childhood. Taking from the work of Ellen Beate Hansen Sandseter, we will use this session to discuss:
- The different categories of risky play (getting lost/disappearing, dangerous tools, great heights, high speed, dangerous elements, and rough and tumble)
- Why risky play is so important to early childhood development and the benefits of each category
- How we can minimise the risk in this type of play without eliminating all the fun (risk benefit assessment)
Presented by owner/director Kate (bio under philosophy tab).
