About the event
In 2015, 45000 children were found to be at risk of harm, in Australia. Since COVID lockdowns trauma has become even more prevalent. As educators we are an important source of safety and comfort for children who come from traumatic home environments. As awareness grows, the educational world’s interest in trauma informed practice also increases.
There are two types of trauma: simple and complex. In this full day session we will discuss brain development and the impact of (primarily complex) trauma on the developing brain. We will look at how trauma impacts behaviours, memory and relationships. Further to this we will explore trauma informed care and environments, including mindful education.
